#BoostMyBio for #PitchWars

It’s that time again for Pitch Wars! I’m so excited to be submitting another manuscript this year. This is my first time creating a Boost My Bio. Here goes…

Genre: Middle-Grade Fantasy

Title: THE MAGIC GAME

Word Count: 35,300

Aesthetics:

The Short Pitch:

THE MAGIC GAME arrives in Dimshire, turning the cursed town into a spectacular circus. Before the game ends in five days, Adelina must decide to use magic to win, or steal magic to save the town at the risk of disappearing like her parents.

The Full Pitch:

Thirteen-year-old Adelina wants nothing more than to escape the curse The Prince of Darkness cast over her village, and to find her missing parents. One day while traveling through the dark woods, she discovers the border that keeps her and all the villagers of Dimshire in, and all the outsiders out. Trapped under a dome devoid of color, magic, and sun, she vows to one day break down the borders.

When Adelina receives an invitation to play The Magic Game, the magic returns to Dimshire, turning the town into a circus, and her world is about to change.

During the last Magic Game, seven years ago, her parents vanished. Determined to find them and break the curse, Adelina enters the game. While playing the game, a series of puzzling events take place and Jax, a boy she meets, starts following her around.

Sam, a quirky boy from the outside, surprisingly crosses the border and brings with him a bizarre game with a mind of its own. To finish the game and win the mysterious prize at the end, Sam must track down a player from seven years ago.

Meanwhile, Adelina gathers four of THE MAGIC GAME players, hoping their combined magic will be able to break the curse, but the others think it’s too dangerous. Desperate to find her parents, Adelina resorts to stealing magic from their tents.

When things don’t go as planned, the stakes are raised, the clock is ticking, and Sam’s game proves to be more powerful than they imagined.

Why I Would Be a Good Mentee:

I am a hard worker who is good at taking constructive feedback. When I put my mind to something, I do it.  I will be dedicated to making the revisions that will make my book better, and I will do it with enthusiasm.

About Me:

I live close to the Windy City and often take the train downtown just to be in the thick of the city lights and the excitement. When I’m not writing, professionally and for fun, you can find my nose in a book. I have a goal to read 52 books this year and I’m currently reading #50, so cheers to that! I also love to travel, especially to get out of winter weather for at least a long weekend. I dream about moving to Colorado one day (yes, I do know it gets cold there, but at least they have mountains—tradeoffs).

I am married and have one, amazing daughter. As a family, we love movies, games, bowling, roller skating, and trips to the park. Our family is complete with one rambunctious, Jekyll and Hyde cat.
