Needing to find a way to quiet the voice in her head that tells her she’s not good enough and to reconnect to her spark, she joins an international tour group on a whim with her college-age daughter Lucy and takes a thirty-day sabbatical to South Africa and surrounding countries to “be like Liz (Gilbert),” Eat, Pray, Love-style. Leaving behind her commitment-phobic, adrenaline-junkie racecar driver boyfriend, Chase, she sets out on her voyage of self-discovery and meets a motley crew of characters who each challenge her in ways she didn’t realize she needed. She’s so close to sunshine she can taste it on her lips. Just before she’s set to return to Chicago, a near-death experience forces her to confront a fork in her life’s road: stay the course of what she’s always envisioned or trash all her safety nets and blaze a new path.

Annie Cathryn lives by the motto, “Creating is Living.” She is the award-winning author of The Friendship Breakup. When not writing or reading, she’s organizing her personal library collection by color and discovering delectable chocolate. She earned a journalism degree and a master’s in communications from Marquette University, and lives in Chicagoland with her husband, daughter, and two fur babies.
